HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS disproportionately affects the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Equality Texas supports increased funding of HIV prevention programs for all affect communities, as well as the creation of needle exchange programs to reduce the risk of HIV and Hepatitis transmission.

Equality Texas is opposed to more restrictive eligibility requirements that limit access to state financial assistance for much-needed medical care and prescription drugs.

Equality Texas supports legislation to expand the state Medicaid program to include HIV positive individuals.
