The Equality Texas team and our members have a shared vision: full lived equality for LGBTQ Texans under the law. We believe LGBTQ Equality is a non-partisan issue of paramount importance to our state.

Instructions 

Please complete and submit the questionnaire using this form if you are currently in office or seeking office in Texas for a state legislative level or national level position. At the Board’s discretion, interviews may be scheduled with candidates prior to making endorsement decisions. Candidates who do not return questionnaires may not be considered for endorsement. All candidates running for office may complete the endorsement questionnaire but please note we may not issue endorsements for all races.

We consider the following criteria when determining whether Equality Texas/Texas Equity PAC will endorse a candidate:

• Answers to candidate endorsement questionnaire
• For incumbents or those who have held office before, authorship or co-authorship of legislation that supports full lived equality for LGBTQ people, 2) floor votes on good and bad bills and amendments in their deliberations, 3) LGBTQ Caucus membership, 4) exceptional leadership in committee work to protect LGBTQ rights and/or in breaking with their party to support nondiscrimination or speak publicly on behalf of the LGBTQ community
• Previous support for issues of concern to the LGBTQ community
• Demonstrated leadership on LGBTQ equality issues, and
• Viability of the incumbency or candidacy
