WHAT IS THE QUEER TEXAS CRISIS FUND (QTCF)?

The QTCF is a joint project by Texas Pride Impact Funds and Equality Texas. The fund was created to raise money during the COVID-19 pandemic to distribute to LGBTQ+ serving nonprofit organizations providing emergency relief to communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

In 2020, $50,000 was distributed to:

AIDS Outreach Center, (Fort Worth), AIDS Walk South Dallas, Inc., (Dallas), Austin Latino/a Lesbian Gay Organization DBA allgo, (Austin), BEAT AIDS Coalition Trust, (San Antonio), Borderland Rainbow Center, (El Paso), East Lubbock Art House, (Lubbock), Embrace: A Festival for all LGBTQIA+ Austinites, (Austin), Institute for Chicanx Psychology, (Austin), Organizacion Latina de Trans in Texas, (Houston), Panhandle AIDS Support Organization, (Amarillo), Save Our Sisters United, Inc, (Houston), South Texas Equality Project, (Harlingen), The Mahogany Project, (Houston), Transforming Texas, (San Antonio), Transfronterizxs, (El Paso) and WhatsintheMirrror, (Austin).

In 2022, we are relaunching this emergency aid campaign to provide the transgender community assistance as they navigate the relentless assault by our state leaders. On June 1, we began the distribution of $42,000 to trans-led, trans focused orgs who are addressing the immediate needs of our communities across Texas. Transgender youth and adults alike live and belong here in Texas and deserve the respect and dignity we all do. These attacks on transgender kids and their families, transgender people and those who love them are part of a global campaign  grounded in prejudice and misinformation. Everyone, regardless of race, class, genders, sexual orientation, or ability, deserve to live happy and authentic lives without government intrusion. The effort in Texas to ban life-saving care is outrageous and an abuse of power.
