Equality Texas Releases Statement from CEO Ricardo Martinez Involving the Murder of a Transgender Woman in San Antonio

Austin, Texas – May 8, 2020- Equality Texas, the largest statewide organization solely dedicated to securing full equality for LGBTQ Texans, today released a statement from CEO Ricardo Martinez regarding the murder of a transgender woman in San Antonio.

“We are devastated to hear about the act of violence suffered by barbershop employees in San Antonio. Experiencing traumatic incidents like this change families forever. Helle O’Regan was one of three employees attacked in a random crime.

She was 20 years old and did not have enough time to live out her dreams and share her unique gifts with the world. Our thoughts are with Helle’s family and friends and anyone whose life is permanently impacted by this incident.”
