The Legislative Session(s) during 2021 has been particularly brutal for our community, and courage anchored all of the powerful testimony against anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans legislation. Public debates for bills that would ostracize transgender youth from their peers by categorically banning them from participating in sports, or that would eliminate best-practice, medically-recommended, life-saving medical care for trans youth — and possibly include a charge of child abuse for their supportive parent — or offer religious exemptions to those who wanted to deny that care, were full of painful and dehumanizing language from equality opponents.
The Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) and Equality Texas proudly partnered together to uplift the voices of trans Texans and allies who came together to fight these bills.
