One Texas Resistance Rally and Day of Action
Posted on July 6, 2017 at 4:33 pm

As the Texas Legislature prepares to meet in a special session, a broad and diverse coalition of advocacy organizations came together to release an open letter condemning the cruel politics driving an extremist legislative agenda that threatens the rights, health and lives of vulnerable Texans.

The letter and list of organizations signing on are available here: http://bit.ly/WeAreOneTX

The 16 organizations signing the letter advocate on a broad range of issues, including reproductive health, LGBTQ equality, immigration, and religious and civil liberties. We believe that an attack on any Texan is an attack on all Texans.

Equality Texas is proud to join with allies and partners from all over the state in supporting One Texas Resistance — which will kick-off the special legislative session on Tuesday, July 18th with a rally and day of action at the Capitol.

Now more than ever we need all-hands-on-deck! Please join us on the first day of the special session to welcome lawmakers back to the Capitol with the message that we are #OneTX.

The danger that cruel and discriminatory legislation will pass during the 30-day special is just as high as during the regular session. Because Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is driving much of the agenda, everything we have stood against — the “bathroom bill,” unnecessary abortion restrictions, private school vouchers — will have to be defeated again.

Please plan now to join us at the Texas Capitol on Tuesday, July 18th.
