Background: Bullying is a chronic problem throughout our public school system. In 2005, the 79th Texas Legislature passed the first anti-bullying measure. Since then, the Texas legislature has failed to adopt modern language addressing the rapidly changing face of bullying in our schools. We currently seek comprehensive legislation that includes: a modern definition of the act of bullying, stronger parental notification requirements, broader accountability within the school system among others issues.
Committee: Public Education.
